Students completing music in the senior school must demonstrate knowledge and skills in several areas including composition, musicology, and performance. With careful selection of repertoire and learning activities, all these skills can be covered even within the limited time of a classroom setting. This presentation will consider how Bartók’s Mikrokosmos can form the foundation of a unit considering a variety of musical skills including improvisation, composition, music analysis, music technology, and aural skill development.
