As a music teacher and educator with many years of experience, Martina is passionate about engaging students in active music making through enjoyable singing, building skills in music literacy and elevating students to authentic musical expression. She had the privilege of participating in the National Music Mentoring Program with Richard Gill and has worked with classroom teachers in music mentoring. Having transitioned from teaching as a Primary Music specialist, she completed a Master of Education and now works as a sessional lecturer in pre-service teacher education at Deakin University. Martina draws upon the pedagogical and philosophical approaches of Kodály and Orff Schulwerk and seeks to develop musical competencies in pre-service teachers through sharing her experience and modelling inclusive, participatory forms of music-making. The power of music to inspire and transform lives continues to feed her passion for music education.
